EPAK Awarded $15,000 LPMP Grant for 2024-2025 Academic Year

The East Palo Alto Kids Foundation  (EPAK) has been awarded a substantial grant of $15,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year from Literacy Partners Menlo Park (LPMP).

This grant will support EPAK’s Educator Micro Grants Program, which plays an important role in bolstering educational quality within the community.

The Educator Micro Grants Program, as described by EPAK, is designed to assist educators by providing financial support to enhance classroom instruction. Specifically, the LPMP grant supports 20 teachers and benefits approximately 500 students. Each teacher can apply for up to two grants of $750 each, totaling $1,500 per academic year. School principals review these applications to ensure they meet state educational standards, and the Grants Allocations Committee at EPAK makes the final selections. Once approved, funds are promptly distributed to teachers, enabling them to address immediate instructional needs.

EPAK’s primary goals for the Educator Micro Grants Program are:

  1. To improve the quality of education and enhance classroom instruction across core curriculum areas: Literacy, STEM, humanities, and the arts..

  2. To make a positive impact on all eligible teachers at EPAK’s partner schools through the Educator Micro Grants Program..

President Mike Goodkind expressed admiration for the program, said in his letter, “The board continues to be impressed  (and indeed inspired) by your program and by its work to provide enhancements that both help and encourage local educators and the children they serve.

EPAK President Jeannine Marston said in her June 22 acknowledgement, “We feel honored to partner with Literacy Partners in our parallel missions. Thank you so very much for your generosity.”
